Took the PK out to the range today. Balmy 40 Deg weather. 200 rounds of Walmart Federal bulk ammo. I had  3 misfires, 3 FTE, and 2 FTF. All separate from each other. I was hoping for less trouble. But had a lot of fun regardless. Gun was fresh out the box. Should I be happy with this or will it get worse over time? Also is there a way to improve/strengthen the FCG?. It sure feels like a weak strike on the primer.

My range report for today:

Maybe 40 degrees out, light breeze. Ran about 200-300 rounds of WalMarts best Federal Bulk (the $13 stuff) down the tube. ZERO issues. No FTF, nothing. 100% functioning of the gun.  Haven't seen too many .22 rifles do this lately. We accept misfires and such and blame the ammo but this batch runs perfect.

Checked cases. Good impacts on the primer. Good ejections. Heck, its fun watching those cases come flying out of the gun.

A few people stopped by and commented on how cool the little GSG was. They enjoyed watching it eat through some old bowling pins. Amazing what twenty-two .22s can do when they impact that pin in just seconds.

I still think its overpriced and under-built, but the thing works perfectly and is just plain a hoot to shoot.  Man, do I  need a mag loader for this or what!

Fail to feeds in the GSG definitely seem to get less with time, I hardly seem to have any anymore. I sure want a PK but it will have to wait till after a 9mmCarbine, GSG-SD and a Sig 556Classic

Did you try the firing pin mod?  Sounds like you might be having weak strikes.

Aside from the malfunctions, how was the accuracy of the PK? I just picked one up last week and have yet to get her out the range. What distance were you shooting these pins at? What's the maximum range you feel you could consistently hit a bowling pin at with the weapon?

Accuracy was good out to 25 yards. I was shooting at non standard plinking targets. Anything beyond 75 yards, might as well forget it.

Reason I ask is I was hoping to go rabbit hunting with my PK at some point. I know there are WAY better choices, but, I just want to give it a shot. With a little "spray and pray" you think the PK is capable of hitting targets from 25-75 yards?

Using iron sights, up to 40-50 yards you should be ok. Anything beyond would be considered lucky I am wondering how much a red dot would help past 50 yards.

We will see, I have a Aimpoint ML2 I plan to slap on for a few range trips after my form 1 comes back. Maybe the stock and a decent red dot will enable suprising accuracy!?!
