Greetings, A friend (and fellow GSG enthusiast) and I are contemplating a new small venture and need some feedback. We believe that some of you might like the option of purchasing a finished barrel to use in conjunction with the Gemtech adapter (ALL NFA RULES APPLY). We're thinking about a total price of $180.00 delivered CONUS. We should have photographs available by early next week. Please let me know if you're interested and we'll decide if the demand is sufficient to produce them. Thanks for your time! |
I'm not the machinist in the operation. I know that they will not be CNCed, but rather turned on a Grizzly gunsmiths lathe. We've already purchased some blanks from Brownells, as well as the chamber reamer (big bucks that have to be recooped). My partner has indicated that the barrels will be thicker then stock, although it won't be visible. Until we turn one this weekend, I don't have any further information. Any suggestions on price bearing the preceding in mind? |
Bear in mind that the barrels would be 8 1/4" long. Stainless with 1:16 twist. |
You might get a better response by machining both the short and a 16 inch barrel, I know many are interested in that. |
We have discussed the idea of increasing the diameter of the barrels. Testing has shown that there is not enough clearance inside of the weapon to increase the diameter of the barrel behind the front sight base and it would be impossible to reassemble the rifle with a bull barrel ahead of the sight. We can produce a 416 stainless factory replacement barrel with a field grade chamber, though. |
