I few post back there was a picture a guy had of a rail system that replaced the front sight and had a full top rail. I've looked them up, and it appears to be a Nitro/Laylax MP5 Sleeve much like this one.

My question is, was there much modification(Dremelling) that had to be done to get this to fit right?
Any answers/pictures would be great, I'm still debating on what mount I want to get.

I can't recall who else had that one, but it requires cutting out a slot for the charging handle when it is in its up and locked position.  I can't recall if anything else was needed.

I was the one that posted pictures of this, I purchased it from the place linked - trinity airsoft.  You do need to do some dremeling/filing so the charging handle can stay in the locked back/up position.

It comes with a replacement front site and you need to remove the rear site to install it.  The installation of the front site is optional, I chose not to.  Another member here did the install.  Not sure what it involves.

The small blocks of metal that clamp onto the gun can be over tightened and break.  I replaced mine with a low pro clamp off a $15 mount when one of mine broke.

To me it's a complete change to the look of the weapon, though expensive it's awesome.  If you can find one in stock I would fully support the decision to purchase.

I enjoy it a lot, holds zero no problems with the fakepoint I use.

JohnStoner,
Found your other thread....I'll add some of this info to the accessories sticky later.

Note the notching done to the charging handle rest area was rough dremel work, try to keep the
mocking to a minimum as I haven't gone to it with a fine file yet.  The important thing is it functions.

The last picture:
Still working on the iron see through on the raised mount, just an idea at this point.  The elevation of
the front sight in comparison to the rail isn't a standard height.  Readily available hardware at this
point doesn't fit the need, will most likely have to be custom fitted/adjusted.

Edit: In normal lighting conditions the difference in color tone is barely noticeable.

In theory you could cut down the front sight part of the rail and still use the front sight. I like it but not at the risk of losing my sights. I like the ability to toss the red dot in case of failure, but then again this isn't something you would use in a SHTF scenario.

Thanks for the detailed photo's and write up, this deserves to be in "The Big thread'.

I'm debating working on making one of my GSG's a long range varminter, maybe with a Super Sniper or Bushnell scope. I'm questioning the .22's ability to hit out past 200 though so it's still in the "it would be neat" phase.

Is the rail mil-spec?

I ask because the last two mounts I've bought, from ebay, are thinner than mil-spec. As a result my eotech 553 will not mount as the throw-levers will not grip the sides of the rail.hanks
