Why are there people asking for extra barrels and another option for mags?

I assume that when a person SBRs their rifle by modifying the barrel they are done.
Why do people want another barrel?
Perhaps for when the barrel wears out?

I have some GSG mags that are AWESOME. Why are people wanting BDM to make them as well?
Because of short supply?
Higher capacity?
24 rounds works for me. A 100 round drum would be sweet, but is there enough demand?

Wouldn't GSG be able to make them easier?

As an 07/02, I would like to know why the demand is there.
Perhaps I can get some insight to enhance my company.

No offense meant to anyone.

Well, in my case it's a easy one, We have no mags. I was lucky enough to walk into the shop and they just received one rifle. I bought it on the spot without a mag ( thanks NY ) and
have a very attractive paperweight until some 10 rd mags come into the country. I couldn't pass on it but will probably have to wait months before I can shoot it.

Sorry about the NY laws.........................could you offer to pay someone to modify a mag to accept 10rds? Shouldn't cost a ton.

Again, just looking at solutions................

I think the reasoning on this is because of the reasons you mentioned, here is my two cents for whatever its worth.

1.  Some people like the idea of keeping the original barrel stock and modifying an after market or extra barrel.  So that they may if they want switch back to the original someday.  The same thing as buying an aftermarket stock but keeping the original just in case.  The barrel wearing out is a good point as well but I see this as beeing more for the first thing mentioned than that.

2.  People want BDM to make mags because of the short supply and also higher capacity.  I really dont see GSG making any different ones than they do because they are swamped with the market of the firearm itself instead of tooling up to make high capacity mags.  I think that most people are like me and are mag whores.  i have probably 100 AR mags but still buy some when I see them advertised cheap.

I was lucky and found 2 mags that werent to bad of price but still higher than I really wanted to pay for them at $40 each.

This just my .02 cents on what I think.
