Which airsoft forends work or require the least amount of modification?

Asking for a friend of mine in Europe that just received his GSG-5.

Would something like this be able to be converted to work?

That one is designed for airsoft and should fit. As other have posted, there my be a little Dremmel time around the front ring. It should fit.....there are many like it out there.

RAS/RIS Information

When trying to install different brands of RAS/RIS on, it may be necessary to remove and replace the long set screw that holds the barrel from rotating and acts as a brace for the standard handguard.  You can replace this set screw (pictured below, left) with one that is 10/32 pitch and 3/8" long (pictured below, right).  It will then sit flush against the bottom block.  Pics from Ripnrob.

Pictures of the unmodifed parts and collar.

Collar is held in place my that metal bracket into the RAS.

After heavy cutting and filing and giving it a coat of black spray paint.  You can see how much material compared to the factory collar was needed to be removed.  You can now see how the collar goes up and into the slots on the reciever.

One piece of the rail had to get cut off in order to clear the ejection port.

With the rail panels and VFG installed.  Great job, just awesome!!!

Heineken with a Nitro brand RIS forearm.
The stock front handguard screw is a bit long and may need to have a lock washer put on to take up the play in the forearm.
The tabs may need to be bent in order for it to sit strait.

Guess a link to the tacked thread would have worked too.

Does anyone know if this rail will fit an actual HK94 / HK53 clone w/o the adapter collar?

I ask because it looks like that took a lot of filing to get the adapter to fit. If I buy one and screw that part up, I would still have a rail I could mount on a 9mm or .223 HK clone.

I really like this rail and thank Ripnrob for trying it out.

i doubt it. as far as i know most airsoft parts are not compatible with the mp5/hk94 and their clones.

Actually I think the G&P RAS would fit the a real HK or MP5 clone...I bought a real KAC RAS before we started to find out only airsoft parts would work and the G&P and KAC are almost Identical except the KAC is a little heavier...the collar is what makes up the difference in length at the end of the reciever on a airsoft gun.
