Been shopping around for a good deal on a useable tomahawk. Right now it's a toss-up between RMJ Forge www.rmjforge.com Eagle Talon special forces tomahawk, and one of the Ranger series from American Tomhawk Company www.americantomahawk.com

I want something which will be good for SHTF out-of-ammo home defense or simply to toss it into my truck. Thanks.

ATC is probably the Best hands down. You can't really appreciate them until you've held one in your hands. I bought a Vietnam Tactical at the NYCK show and I absolutely love it. The drop forged head is razor sharp and can take a beating like no chi-com import could ever dream of. The handle is just the perfect length to be effective when swinging yet short enough to be functional. The same goes for the NG ranger series, which is really nice but a little more than the $169 which I spent for the VT. The NG ranger is the next hawk I'll be getting (after the holidays) I should have never touched it. Now I must own it. Also bear in mind that ATC is the ONLY tomahawk company to pay rights and tribute to Peter LaGana a retired Marine (there are no "former" Marines) and, the man who first made the Tomahawks for the SF guys in Vietnam. ATC is a great company and Is top notch in CS. My only advice would be to invest in the shoulder rig.
