Looking for a fixed blade knife that meets certain qualifications, wondering if anyone knows anything that they can direct me somewhere. Basically what I'm looking for:
anywhere between 4-6" blade. Handle has a karambit style ring on the bottom. Handle can have a slight curve to it. Blade type doesn't matter as much-drop point, tanto, bowie, etc... rough textured grip for better control. Basically, I really like the functionality of the karambit, and I have a decent amount of training with one. The ring gives retention so you don't drop it, you won't hit something hard with the knife only to have your hand slide up the blade, and you can flip it to an extended position for more reach. Karambits aren't designed for thrusting though, more of a slash and rip weapon. The 2 closest knives I've seen: The Dmax karambit designed by Doug Marcaida, mildly curved blade to give the cutting capabilities of a karambit but not as curved so you can still puncture with it. Very nice blade and highly ideal, except I want a longer blade and the Dmax is designed as a neck knife. Second, would be the Sakura blade by Ronin Tactics. I got to take a seminar with Tu Lam on the ring blade, I absolutely loved this knife but they aren't in stock, and I'm looking for something with a thicker handle. Tu Lam was wearing a knife in scout carry on his battle belt which was similar to what I'm looking for- it had a fatter handle, not a thin handle designed for concealed carry, it had a ring on the bottom of the grip, but I didn't get to ask him what it was. Any ideas? |
Tops HOG 4.5?
Chris Meyer seems to make some interesting ring hilt knives although I don't know how or where to find him or them... Link1 Link2

I don't own one, but this knife might be worth a look: Bark River Knives Chris Tanner JX4 Bush Bat
https://www.knivesshipfree.com/bark-river-knives-jx4-bush-bat Blade is 3.6" -- a bit shy of your 4" stated minimum -- but may have the geometry you're looking for. A2 steel, scandi style grind, comes in a variety of handle materials. |
