| i just got my first opinel, and the spine is ridiculously sharp on the edges. is this a common thing, and can i smooth them out? its a stainless blade, not carbon. thanks in advance. |

Mine is carbon and isn't sharp like that, but a friend of mine has a stainless Opinel and the spine was sharp like you describe. I'd give it a few passes with a ceramic rod if it were mine. That's what I did with another knife of mine that was made with a sharp spine like that for striking a fire steel. It's still plenty sharp but doesn't feel like it's going to cut me if I bear down on it with my thumb.
