HK Turmoil by Benchmade with a sand handle and black blade.  It's late so all my family and friends are sleeping and I'm so excited I just want to tell someone.

A few months back I lost my long time EDC Spyderco Delica and have been putting off replacing it.  About two weeks ago my wife told me to pick out a new knife for my birthday at the end of the month.  I've been a long time Spyderco fan but this time I wanted something different and decided pretty early on I wanted a Benchmade for no other reason than I've never owned one, and I just want one.  I initially told my wife I wanted something different and that could even be a conversation piece.  So after two weeks of looking I was convinced this morning that I was getting a 531 Pardue and even emailed Benchmade and asked for a deep carry clip which they promptly replied and said is being shipped to me free of charge.  As today went on I couldn't help myself and kept researching knives. With switchblades becoming legal to carry in Oklahoma on November 1st I started looking pretty hard at auto openers.  I came across the HK Turmoil in sand/black about an hour ago and instantly fell head over heals for it and placed the order.  As luck would have it the deep carry Adamas clip Benchmade is sending me will also work on the Turmoil.

I feel a little silly as I'm a soon to be 33 year old man and I feel like a kid on Christmas eve.  Now I just have to tell my wife in the morning that I blew our agreed upon budget and hope she shares my excitement.

Knives are a lot of fun to research and buy.   I have a lot of OTF knives from a number of different makers.   While I love the dual action OTF knives that can go in an out by a button for speed and fun factor, I much prefer a single action OTF for carry.   A lot of the dual action OTF knives have the blades pop off the track if the blade comes into contact with anything while opening.   Do a youtube search for the Infidel failing when trying to open it with a single piece of paper in front of the blade.  It won't open and knocks the blade off the track.

A single action comes out with much more force and authority and nothing short of a piece of wood will stop it.  It isn't as "fun" to close as a dual action OTF, but the blade lockup is solid and it is built to withstand abuse.

For your next OTF knife, check out a Dalton.  Dalton has at least 10-12 different OTF models and they come out with authority.   The best model is the STC (Safe to Carry) that has a pressure switch that needs to be held before hitting the actuator button so that it is impossible to open in your pocket.

Good luck with your great new knife and happy birthday a little early!

Thanks for the heads up.  I'm afraid the wife wont let me get another knife for a while.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Make sure you let her know that knives tend to reproduce when left in the safe or a drawer.

I got to check out a Turmoil at a local shop, and it is sweet.  May have to pick one up sometime.  It's good that Oklahoma finally pulled their head out on some of their knife laws.  Picked up a few Benchmade autos myself.

Don't feel bad about being excited at 33, I'm 57, have a lot of toys, and still can't wait to get the new ones out of the box myself.

Got this today and installed the deep carry clip.  Figured I'd post a photo for anyone who might be interested.
