I have a CRKT Pharaoh that I want to convert to an automatic opening. I don't have the tools, or knowledge to bust open a knife and install a new spring. My google searches about converting it to auto show it can be done easily, as that is the way it was originally designed, but I don't want to fuck up a good knife. Anyone know anybody that I can pay to do it for me?
My understanding is all I need is a cheap ass spring, and a little tweaking of the spring to make it work, but I don't have the tools needed to disassemble the knife, and I don't want to fuck it up. http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/831841/ |

I converted a Boker (sold it long ago). Winding the spring myself was not hard, but it took many attempts to get it just right. You need to wind the spring on a mandrel half the size you need it will spring out 2x. The hardest part was drilling the blade, the steel is very very hard, went through 2-3 drill bits before I was done. |

It looks like this spring should work:
1/2 Reverse Left Hand Wound Coil - Fits CRKT Anubis & Pharaoh |

Looks pretty straightforward:
