I have a gerber de facto that I want to be able to carry in a horizontal sheath on my belt in the 6 o'clock position.
Does anyone know of a sheath that would let me do this comfortably in a low profile with good retention? Or does anyone know of a way to make the factory sheath mountable on my belt horizontally with those same properties? Thanks |

I have never done this (with a custom sheath) but it should work...
1) Order a (pancake style) kydex sheath here. You may have to send the knife and discuss details of tightness/retention with them directly... It'll be worth it. Talk to the folks producing the sheath and ask if they can use smaller sized rivets/eyelets. 2) Rig the sheath with paracord like the photo below. Basically you put paracord thru one of the eyelets and using a lighter, heat the end to produce a nylon ball too large to fit thru the hole and let it cool to become a hard sphere (you can flatten the ball if you like by using the side of an uncoated blade while the ball is molten)... then cut the cord to the right length and to the same to the other end... Depending on the length of the sheath and the number of eyelets, you will have 2 or 3 paracord keepers on the back side of the sheath... then just thread your belt thru the keepers at the right place on the belt/waist band... The knife & sheath are "stock" Becker BK11 - note the smaller eyelets were used to hold the paracord.
