My humble collection.

I've had the Model 23 for a little while now. Options include stag handle with left handed finger grooves, compass in butt, nickel silver hilt and left handed sheath. Blade is stainless. I gutted last year's deer with this knife...no safe queens here!

The Model 15 has a nickel silver hilt and black micarta handle with finger grooves. Stainless blade. This knife comes standard in a Model "C" sheath which works out well for me as I can reverse the knife and use it left handed. This knife is going to accompany me into the deer woods this year; I'll do the actual gutting with my Buck Crosslock as the model 15 will be too big inside the body cavity.

The Model 5-5 I just received a few days ago. After seeing this configuration in use by another Arfcommer (mic214) I had to have one, although I had mine built with a stainless blade with a left handed sheath. This knife is definitely going to see use in the deer woods as well.

Enjoy!

DOW,

That is a great collection of Randalls you got there!

Yours is the third Model 5 with 5" blade and a double brass hilt that I have seen. There is a Randall collector on Knifeforums.com who has one. I am sure there are more out there, but they are not common. Most folks will just order the Model 1. The blades are basically the same, with the exception of the Model 1 having the slight dip in the top of the blade in front of the hilt. I prefer the straight backed blade of the Model 5.

I picked up my first Randall back in the early 80's and have been using them ever since. Out of all of them, my Model 5 gets the most use now a days. All of my Randalls have the carbon steel blade, with the exception of my Model 16 "Diver's" knife which has the stainless steel blade. I like the carbon steel as it is easier for me to maintain the edge.

Here are a few pics of mine......(Again!)..... My Model 5:

From left to right: Model 16, Model 10 with a 3" blade and red Micarta handles, Model 12-9 Bowie and a Model 14:

I visited the Randall shop a couple of years ago on a trip to Florida:

I like Randall knives.

I have two that I have used quite a bit. One is a Model 8 Trout and Bird, with stainless blade. I have actually used this knife on trout and birds, including turkey and grouse as well as a lot of other small game. I have also  used  it for deer and pigs.
I like its sharpened clip on the back of the blade for seperating and cutting small bones, but when gutting a big game animal you need to be real careful you do not cut the guts.

The second is a Model 5 Camp and Trail with a 6" blade, tool steel, black micarta and compass, the Bradford Angier model. I have also used this knife on small game, and fish as well as deer, wild pigs, elk moose and bear.

I also use it as a camp knife on backpacking trips.  I find this knife very useful and I really like the blade shape on both of these knives.
The steel in these Randalls has proven to take a very good edge, keep a good edge and still be easy to touch up the balde and to resharpen. The balance of these knives is excellent.

While a lot of Randalls end up as safe queens, they are an excellent  using knife as well.

If for some reason the Model 15 does not work out this deer season, I would be more than happy to take it off your hands!!!!

This is the only Randall that I have left.  I'm sure the purists will cringe, but I had this 14 with sawteeth re-handled by Dale Sandberg several years ago.  It's a wicked blade, reminiscent of the trench knives of The Great War.
