Pics are good too.

Google "jimping" , not gimping.

Do NOT use the dremmel. The files will work well but will take time since your blade is hardened.

Here are a few tips:
- put it in a vice.  Have the blade sticking out the side of the vice with the spine below the top of the vice.  This way, you can ensure you get the cut exactly where you want it.
- if basic jimping is what you want, use a checkering file and start with one corner.  Once the file has "bit", roll it over to the rest of the blade.  File carefully until the teeth bottom out
- clean your file often and don't file too hard.

Try googling file work on spine, I love doing random jimping, but a hardened knife will be hard on a file take it slow and clean the file often.

I usually mark the main lines with a sharpie, then put the knife in a vise and use a good hacksaw to saw on the lines, this gives a good spot for the file to start working otherwise they have a tendency to walk down the spine scratching the crap out of it. Good luck.

I use a dremal.. Take the cut off disks that are screw on and stack washers or used disks between two fresh disks.  Take the grinding stone cleaner and make sure they are even edge wise. Start your jimping by going lightly with this set up and advance as far as you want the jimping by moving the attachment to the last slot cut. Then go back with a file or a single disk and make them deeper. Since this is your first time tape up your blade with duct tape.

I grew up in a bodyshop and I am skilled at bodywork and automotive refinish. I am no stranger to metal work but I wanted to ask anyway.
I ordered a smaller set of files from Snap-on and ill start when they get here.
Thanks
