Benchmade is a pretty good brand and easy to deal with on replacement parts or repair work when you abuse the shit out of your knife. I'm partial to the AFO 2. If this knife is actually going to be used I would stay away from OTF blades.

This would be a duty knife and used. Why is otf not a good choice.

Also these prices are brutal but I guess you have to pay to play.

Microtech Ultratech, or Combat Troodon.

Stay away from the HALOS they are single action (you need to pull out a cocking lever to retract the blade this requires two hands)

I agree. I've got a Benchmade 9100 Auto Stryker I've carried for many years and it's held up well and been totally reliable. Cant't got wrong with the AFO 2 either, just a tad bigger though but I love the re design of this knife. Would stay away from OTF autos as well, I've seen them fail just under normal use.

I have a couple Benchmade autos but I prefer my Protechs.  Blade HQ has a good selection in stock and they have several models that can be had for under $150.  Check out the TR series and the Doru for starters.

I just ordered a benchmade pardue and a boker   Must say I'm very disappointed with the benchmade, spring is weak, firing button is very grity and rough.

OTF-Microtech Scarab

side opener - Protech TR-3 or Benchmade AFO.

The Infidel is ok, but it doesn't function  as well as MT OTFs is my experience.
