I just got the 5 and wow what a blade. I can understand why so many are addicted.
Well I want more, ESEE blade that is, now I can't decide to go with the 3" or the IZULA II. The application will be for pocket carry and or BOB / glove box blade.
What do you say?

I started with the 4 a month ago and now have the Izula II and the 5.......this disease is just as bad as BRD and in some ways worse.

I vote for the 3. If it was strictly an everyday carry i would probably say Izula, but since it could also be a BOB or glove box knife i feel the 3 would be better suited for those duties.

Id go with the 3 as well. It is a little hard to carry but you get use to it after a while.

exactly.

I have a 3 for these same purposes and I definitely wouldn't want anything small than the ESEE 3. The Izula is tempting, but I don't know that i have a good use for it at the moment.

EDIT - the ESEE 3 is NOT going to work well for pocket carry. But the supplied belt clip for the sheath makes it really nice for carrying. I have it on when I'm out doing yard work, etc. and its hardly noticeable.

Theres also a ton of carry options for the ESEE 3.

I use this kydex sheath with a mini tek-lok. It can be worn vertically or horizontally on the belt. The whole package weighs just over 6 ounces so its very easy to carry.

I've actually carried it a few times without the tek-lok in my back pocket and it wasnt bad at all.

To be a mate to the -5, I think both blades would work fine. But I'd lean to a -3. I had a -3 and still have a Izy, -4, and -5.

looks like a dead heat - guess you'll have to go the arfcom route and get all 3!

For a backup to your '5, the Izula would get my vote.

To carry for use, or add to a BoB, the '3 would be best.  Be warned: the factory ESEE-3 sheath is a piece of shit.  Budget $30 for a proper kydex sheath and Teklok.  I like Eli's stuff from Godspeed Tactical.  Here's one of his sheaths, with an ESEE pouch attached to my backpack:

Here's the back of the sheath:
