As we all know, Emerson knives are impossible to find in stock. I checked all my favorite sites, then had the brilliant idea of checking Emerson's site directly. They have lots in stock, and at full price of course. Now, I've ordered knives before just to find out they weren't in stock and would be shipped... at some point. I don't like to play that game. Has anyone ordered directly from Emerson before? Do they have them in stock and ready to ship? Are they hoarding them so they can sell them directly at full price?
I'm going to email them and ask, but usually arfcom is faster with answers. |
| These guys appear to have quite a few models in stock. You might try calling/emailing them to confirm. |
| Try www.bluelinegear.com he always has a good selection of Emerson's in stock |
Got this one in a trade. Any info on it would be greatly appreciated.

Quoted: Got a reply from Emerson, the knife I specifically asked about WAS NOT in stock, but should be in a few weeks. I guess that means that the knives on their website ARE NOT in stock and ready to ship. Thanks for the links guys, I found what I was looking for. Which model were you looking for? |

Thanks for the links guys, I found what I was looking for. Emerson is quick to respond (if not at a major show). I just had a replacement CQC-10 shipped to me out in Afghanistan...it helps to get the Mil discount. I've got close to a hundred folders from Benchmade, Spyderco, Chris Reeve, SOG, Al Mar, etc., for some reason my favorite folders have been Emersons; doesn't matter if it's combat, recreation or EDC...they make good blades. I had one made, which was over a five year wait. They are one of the most desired models by collectors. Most have a satin finish blade, so yours is a little specialized, could be worth $$$$ to the right collector, provided you keep it in unused condition. Mine is a super 6 wave, which I got directly from Emerson's custom shop (who is so backed up they are not accepting any orders due to an over 5 year wait)............I believe I paid 900 for mine at the time, but was offered 1750 for it by a purveyor. I now carry it as a daily carry blade. I have owned many Emersons, and still have several custom knives as well as collaborations he had with other companies (Benchmade, Timberline, Gerber, others). I have usually paid full retail for mine, but they have all been well worth the price and sometimes wait to get them. -PC- |

Someone reprofiled the handle to make it look like a CQC-6 and added micarta scales and ti bolsters. Looks like they used hex head screws too, Emerson Customs always use flatheads. The best way to tell a custom is the blade logo. Anyone who really owns a CQC-6 could tell you that the logo ion the blade is completely different |

I did not notice the hardware on the scales, and I have never seen that color micarta used by Emerson before either. Mine is a "Super 6" and not having a point of reference for size, I cannot tell much. The grinds on the blade are also indicative of the CQC7 rather than the six as well. Still a nice looking knife though, no doubt about that, in fact I would be curious as to who did it, did a half-decent job compared to most I have seen. The 7 has been noted as one of the knives that helped spark the "tactical knife craze" and was produced as a Benchmade product back in the 90's, and was even produced in a Titanium Carbide bladed model. It was produced as the 970 and 975 (denoting differences in size, but the 970 being original). I have even seen some converted into automatics, but they never struck my fancy. There have been than a few knock-offs of the 7 and other Emersons on the market as well. One Christmas I gave engraved Commanders to all of my team members, but I wish I had ordered the 7 model instead, not as elite as the 6, but still a classic knife in its own right. -PC- |

If any of you guys are still looking for a CQC7V...I get mine from this guy. He is good to go.
