I told you guys before, I bought a DPX sterile folder, the first version of the knife. I got it and wrote a glowing review of it here then realized the freaking lock didn't do shit Closed up like a $ 5 chinese gunshow jackknife. I did finally get around to telling them and they immediately told me to send it back. Also they were pretty pleasant when I bought it as I bought it direct from them.

Really the knife was an impulse purchase and I have a stupid number of knives that are far beyond what I need, but I was still kind of muttering under my breath about this. I suspect they there is really nothing that can be done, the angles of the lock and blade are just a fucking mess, plain and simple. I liked this one because it didn't have that grinning skull thing, which I don't care for (to each his own).

On the way home I got a call from some area code I didn't recognize and it was DPX (hand's free, I swear it!) The lady was very nice, said they got my fubar knife and were figuring out what to do, and I THINK she said they were sending me a knife to use in the meantime until they figure out what to do. Like a loaner car while mine is in the shop? I guess we'll see when it arrives in the mail

I have heard that the 2.0 knives are rock solid and it is a great design for a small but sturdy knife.

oops have to work on my cropping

I have the 2.0 and really like it. It doesn't have the skull on it just DPX with a big X. If they can't fix yours maybe they will replace it with a 2.0 made by Lion Steel.

i am guessing that's what's coming, however my knife was a wee bit more than a regular 2.0. Guess we'll see, seems like nice people working there. I guess I wouldn't mind if there was no skull, but I did really like the looks of the one I had with no markings.

I've got a 2.0 and it's great. The one I got was a "tester" they sent me before they released them since I had had some issues with my 1.0. Same deal, they called me up told me the scoop and sent the knife to me. I know dps gear has gotten some bad air since they came into the knife game, but their customer service is PHENOMENAL.  I won't hesitate to buy more of their products simply because of how awesome they have been to me.

Well I hope it works out to your full satisfaction - and that the lock issue is fully resolved.  Its a cool looking knife - one that looks like you could really beat on it with no ill effect.

Its good that the company stepped up - and frankly was in a financial position to do so.

It's a great design,, they just cut the angle on the rear of the blade and the lock wrong. I suspect I'll end up with a 2.0

They have been good to deal with, the only way not to fuck up is to never try to do anything, at least they admitted they fucked up and are trying to straighten things out

First ones lock started slipping, sent it in second ones lock started slipping sent it in. Last one seemed fine, but I got rid of it before it got a chance to star slipping. All of them started slipping from basically open and closing the knife.

My first and main test for the 2.0 was open and close wear. I quit counting around 2500 open and closes. The people at work thought i was crazy flicking all day long. Right now I have to be somewhere around 5-6k open and closes.  I'm glad to say there has been ZERO lock issues. No slipping at all. I've even backed the lockbar out to just barely engaged and it won't fail. I'm pleased with the 2.0 and if something were to happen to my free one, I would definitely buy a new one to replace it.

A guy on one of the knife forums said that basically all the 1.0s are doomed to eventually fail because of the design. too bad as I liked the looks of mine

My 2.0 is my go to knife. It gets used hard. (I'm a lineman).
Actually liked my first one better, but once the lockup started failing..................

DPX was great to deal with.

Did they straight up exchange your 1 for a 2 or give you a loaner? I am guessing the loaner thing is because they're going to send it back to Italy or where ever they are made. At least my knife gets a nice vacation for the winter months

I didn't buy the 1.0 just by your review, but I love the 2.0!

Hopefully you end up just getting the 2.0, fingers crossed.

I'll let you know how I like mine tomorrow.

It is at my house waiting for me to finish my tour at 0700!

Even got a Kryptoglow scale to go with the stock one.

I sent mine in for the same issues as everyone else. They sent me a new 2.0. They must know that the first ones were flawed. Yours being a limited edition, I don't know what they'll do.

Here ya go!!

I bought the knife with it on, but the F/F is very good.  I've noticed a couple small spots in them, but had to look real hard to find a flaw.  I think I am going to get some for my ESEE's now.

You guys were right. I received a 2.0 in the mail yesterday. They also threw in a patch, sticker and a sort of metal business card you can snap and the larger piece has sharp cutting edges after you break it. I really don't foresee putting a patch or sticker of a grinning skull with ball cap and sunglasses on anything but it was a nice touch.

I read a really detailed review of the differences between the 1 and 2 but without having my 1 in hand they sure look similar, except this one locks up and is really tight. I haven't tried adjusting the tension yet.

I did a pretty in depth review, I think it's on DPxGear's website. It's been a while back, but it all still holds true.  If you adjust the pivot, your probably going to have to pry the g10 off the knife.  Unless they've changed it, (mine is a "test" model that was pre-production) but my g10 was all but pressed onto the pins.  I just used my torx screwdriver after I backed all my screw out to wiggle it up.  After I got it off, I put it back on finger tight and then used the pivot screw to tighten it back down till I got it where I wanted it at.

I have been fiddling with the 2.0 for awhile now and it seems like it sometimes locks up with the bar so far over that it takes two hands to close it. Seems like it happens more often when you use the wave to snap it open.

Mine smoothed up after some break-in.  I put a little pencil lead on mine until it eased up.

Yeah I have been using it pretty steadily since I got the new one and like it. I did have a problem for awhile with it locking open and it took something like a screwdriver to pop the lock so you could close it, but that went away. Overall it seems like a good knife.
