Let me first say that I am not knowledgeable when it comes to knives so I am at your mercy.

I work as a police officer and my folding blade is getting close to needing replacement. Another officer purchased an auto blade and I have to say I was really impressed with it.

Now since I don't know much on the subject can you guys help me choose the best one to use while on duty?

THANKS!

Let me add that I like a decent size blade but don't do like the handle to be fat. The thinner it is the more I'll like it.

Check out the Gerber Emerson Alliance. Gerber Its pretty good I had one never used it and gave it as a gift to my buddy.

For duty use I would get something relatively inexpensive, they tend to get abused and/or lost. I carry a Kershaw Blackout (assisted) and/or a cheap Gerber, both were given to me. I carry the folders as utility knives and a fixed blade (Colt Steel Spike) as a defensive tool. I have a good number of nice knives, including a couple Benchmade autos but I only carry them off duty. That said, my Benchmade autos are nice if you want to carry one on duty.

I carry a Benchmade 9130 daily. Great carry knife. Mine has the black blade and half serrations but I wish it was the model below (not mine):
