I bought a CRKT Triumph N.E.C.K. a while back. It is a handy little knife that holds an edge pretty well considering everything I cut with it. The sheath is great and one of the reasons I picked this knife. I like to hang it from my belt loop. The only problem with this is that it caught on EVERYTHING. I was always having to pick it up. I even had to get out the Metal Detector and search the back pasture for it. So I decided it needed some way to latch it to the sheath: -Extended the Braid -Replaced one of the screws with a longer Thumbscrew (I used a spare grommet from another sheath to cover the threads) -Looped the end of the Braid Simple fix: On a related note.... I also recently bought an Otterbox for my IPhone 3Gs. I liked the case, but the Belt Clip sucked. It kept falling off. Why??? Because someone thought it would be cool to make the Clip LATCH OPEN!!!!! This is so you could stand it on it's side on your desk. ![]() So off came the factory Belt Clip and on goes a replacement clip that I purchased from American Sportsmans Products (www.amspro.com) for $3. See any resemblance to the Clip on my NECK Sheath? ![]() |
| You might also consider buying some kydex and making a sheath with the retention capabilities you are looking for if you get the time to try it. Right off the bat I see that the guard could be used for retention and maybe those holes up top if you had a dimple in the kydex. Someone put up a fairly good kydex tutorial a minute ago. From that and what I already know it does not seem like it would be out of reach for most people. That mounting bracket looks like teklok. How'd you attach it to the phone case? |

Quoted: That mounting bracket looks like teklok. How'd you attach it to the phone case? I bought the mounting bracket from amspro.com. It has a series of mounting holes already in it. -Separated the Rotating part of the Phone Case -Removed the Spring and "Stand" from the Clip half of the Phone Case -Cut the Latch off the end of the part that was left. (This left me with a flat surface to work with) -Clamped this piece to the New Mounting Clip -Drilled 4 holes using the existing holes in the New Clip as guides -Counter sunk the holes on the surface of the Old Clip piece so the screws would not interfere with the rotation -Dug the appropriate hardware out of my hardware cabinet -Assembled the pieces together - Profit! I know, pictures would help. I'll get some and post them later/tomorrow. |
| I absolutely hate the tech lok style clips. I have fallen on one and had to limp with a big bruise on my hip for 12 miles coming out of the wilderness. And they also stick out, catching on everything. Getting hurt on your own gear sucks big time. You have the means for several types of carry with that sheath and may a suggest just a loop of kydex. If that is not an option, you do have double slots that a strap with some velcro attached would work just fine and you can quick release it whenever you needed. |
