I have a decent sized yard and it is all surounded by woods, so I dont have any issues with neighbors watching me etc.

I have some nice size stumps / logs in my back yard that I would like to try out some throwing stars on.

I was thinking something inexpensive to just puts around with, something like the Cold Steel "Sure Strike" throwing stars.

I wont be using them for self defense or anything cookey like that, just strickly fun.

What do you guys recommend / say?

The heavy size stars are about the same weight as some that were made for me by good friends - my experience would advise staying away from the lighter ones, they tend to "float" and lose what passes for accuracy with these. Consider some sort of backstop/box behind the target, these things will not only bounce back like regular throwing knives, but can zoom off rolling for a lot farther that you give them credit for - and they can be the devil's own problem to find outside, they like to burrow under leaves. (Not that I've ever missed, or lost one, mind) Wouldn't want to find it with the mower, you might think you're being attacked by ninjas!

Other than that, have fun, these can be a blast - Kukishinden Ryu shuriken - jutsu had throws coming overhand, underhand, left side from belt level (like a frisbee), left side from above shoulder - whatever works.
