What do you guys think? I'm thinking of treating myself to a OTF for my birthday. .. . Opinions and comments welcome. |

I've had at least 5. All kick ass knives, I wouldn't buy a UTX70 though- they are TINY. If you've never handled one in person I would hold off. I can tell you from personal experience that the UT6, UT2, Halo, Scarab and Combat Talon are all great knives. If you want to carry and use one every day I'd recommend the single action knives like the Halo, Combat Talon or the Nemesis.. They are way more sturdy and simple. Check out microholics.org, their EE produces some awesome deals. |

Microtech OTFs are awesome.
BUT Like the poster above said, if you haven't handled a UTX 70 you may want to hold off on that particular model Nothing to do with its quality...but it is TINY...like...Case Peanut pen knife tiny. If thats ok with you then by all means, they are nice knives. I personally prefer a larger knife. I have a Scarab, a HALO III, and a Combat Troodon. I'm of the differing opinion on carry options from the poster above though. The single actions are not one handed closers, and they don't generally have pocket clips. They are sturdier in theory, but I haven't had any trouble of out of my D/A's. ETA: I don't have a UTX-70, but I do have a clone that I use as a letter opener. Same design/size, crappier quality. I'd be happy to take a picture of it with something for size comparison if you'd like. |
