Okay, So I am finally ready to buy a fixed blade knife.

I do have a few requirements for the knife though, so bear with me.

- Fixed blade, symetrical design
- Blade length sub 12", over 4"
- Kydex Sheath or symilar, no Leather sheaths please

HERE is an example of what I'm looking for, but it only comes with a leather sheath.

I really like the satin silver of that blade as well, although black is not out of the question.

I would like to spend no more then 100 bucks, would rather stay under 50 if possible, but I will pay more if it is really worth it.

So what say you?

PS: Pics and / or links would be much appreciated.

I would suggest getting the knife and then having somebody who works with kydex make you a sheath to your spec's.

That way you have the best of both worlds, the knife you want and the sheath to go with it.

How about a Böker Applegate-Fairbairn?

6 in. 440C stainless steel partially serrated bead blasted dual edged 1 in. wide blade . Fiberglass reinforced Delrin handle with lanyard hole . 10.75 in. overall length. Includes a Kydex sheath with a secure click hold feature.

First one I found

ETA - I'm about 87% sure that they make one without serrations, but can't find it at the moment

Check out ESEE knives. I think you may find what you want there.

What do you mean when you say "symetrical design"?...  and what is your "target" length?...  or what is your intended purpose for this knife?...

Mil Tac knives CE-2

Fantastic steel. Never had a knife hold an edge like these do. Sheath is kydex and nylon, mole capable, and tough.

Buy with confidence.

See my crappy photo for what I am talking about as far as symetrical. Length, I just about anything is fine, as long as it handles well. I am thinking about 7 to 8 inches, although 9 or 10 is not out. I think 11 or 12 may be a little long, although I will not rule it out.

Intended use will be a general use, I wont be doing any hard use with it, so I dont need something to chop wood with or anything like that. I am a little OCD when it comes to symetrical stuff, and I like the looks of that style blade.

i was SERIOUSLY considering the Boker Shanz you posted a photo of.  if i was looking for a dagger/dirk (symetrical), that would actually be my first pick.  another one you might want to consider is the Cold Steel Peacekeeper.  beware of the Counter Tac's though, as they are chisel ground.  i don't know if that matters, to you, but it's a deal breaker for me.

as others have already stated, don't think about the sheath.  get the knife you want, then have the sheath made.  i'm a little back logged, right now, but if you want to get on the waiting list for one of mine, you're welcome to visit my site 2 Munkeez

Nice knife, but not symetrical and way over my budget. I know I get what I pay for, but I can't buy a $300+ knife.

And as to buying the Boker SID, and getting a sheath made, That is an option. A little more pricier then I wanted, but I agree I will get exactly what I want. I might end up going this route, I'm not 100% sure yet.

Thanks for all the responses.

The design you want is most accurately described as a "dagger". Use that for your searches and you'd have better results.

Yep, perfect price point, balanced, symmetric, good steel, and with a kydex sheath.

OP- if you're looking for a general purpose knife I highly suggest you stay away from daggers. They are only made for fighting.
An ESEE 6 or Ontario RAT-7 would serve you a lot better.
Hell, a KABAR works great as a general utility blade, hence it's old moniker FUK.

ETA- if you must have a dagger the A-F is a great choice.

It's not that I HAVE to have a dagger, it's that I WANT one (so yeah, I NEED what I WANT lol). I dont do any hiking, climbing, camping etc, so the extent of the knife will be things like letter opening & little stuff. I would not hesitate to use it in a fighting situation, so the fact that they are "fighting" knives really peaks my interest. I really like the blade style and the knife style.

For any hard use things, I would proably use my EDC Knife, a CRKT M16-14ZSF. That knife is a BEAST, I love the thing to death. I want to get the fixed blade as more of a fun knife, not as a hard use knife.

I really like that Sog knife that was posted, and I do like that other Boker that was posted.

Here is a pic of my EDC (off google, not my pic)

ETA: I might have missed something, but what are you refering to when you say "if you must have a dagger the A-F is a great choice"?
