I have a Becker Brute on which I'd like to perform a Paracord-Wrap.
I'm not too happy with the stock plastic handle, and even the thinner micarta scales I got from Camillus way back when are less than ideal. I've found the Stryder style of wrapping to be interesting, so I'd like to give it a try and perhaps learn a new hobby craft in the process. Before I go galavanting across the internet looking for sites and places where such a craft is demonstrated, I thought I'd ask if anyone here has any preferences? I did a quick search and, unless my search-fu is off today, I didn't find anything here in the forum. Thanks! |

Working through your links, I found this: Link
I'd forgotten about the SF. Thanks! |

Paracord sounds like a great idea, until you use it. I tried to like it and researched it a bit to try to offer it as an option. It's not as comfy as a good micarta handle and they pretty much don't stand up to heavy chopping.
The chances that the holes that were drilled for the factory grips, will be in the correct place to finish the paracord wrap is pretty slim. You will probably have to drill a hole to have a place to finish it off, or the wrap will just slide of the back of the knife. Or you can file a groove for the cord to sit in near the end of the handle so it won't slide off the back, but filing hardened steel isn't going to be fun. But try it you might like it. The best results I had was doing a first wrap, just around and around, of gutted cord, to give a little extra cushion, then doing the actual wrap over the top with another gutted or ungutted cord (depends on how thick you like your grip.) You can even use 2 different colors if you'd like. |

That's precisely what I plan on doing. |
