I'm think about pulling the trigger on a 551SBK Griptillian for EDC.

I do own a D2 K-Bar, and I really like the D2 steel for it's wear and corrosion resistance. The only reason why I haven't bought a 551 in D2 yet is because one of my local dealers can get me a good deal on the 154cm version.  I'm looking for corrosion resistance, strength for prying, wear resistance, and edge holding.

So what I'm really wondering is if I will be at a disadvantage with
154cm vs D2. Or whichever one is better in your opinion's?

My griptilian is a Plain Blade Full Size OD Handled D2 Steel.  I like the steel but didn't like the overall design of the knife as much as I do my BM940 or BM941 Osbornes which happen to be 154cm.

I got it for a real good price if you might be interested in a slightly used one.

get the 154cm model. for what you'll be using a folder for, you wont be anle to tell the difference. but yes 154cm is very corrosion resistant( more so than d2) it cant stand up to prying because of its high chromium content and it will hold an edge very well

I have considered the Osbornes, but I like drop point blades. Oddly Benchmade doesn't make one with a drop point, but the modified tanto looks quite good. I may go with the 940 instead.

I'll probably go with the cheapest of the two steels I can get since I can't really go wrong with either.
