I have what appears to be an older machete with some tarnishing on the blade but it seems to be quality, there is an eagle logo down by the handle and under the eagle is says "GAVILAN DE INCOLMA COLOMBIA"

Pretty obvious it was made in Columbia.

My sister brought me back one from Costa Rica back in the early 80s. I'd bet the blade is made of leaf spring steel but as far as sorta rough but made well, it's been a great blade. It's lopped off lots of limbs over the years and the blade  is still tight to the handle and a quick sharpening once in a while and a bit of oil on the blade is all it needs. If made right, it'll last a lifetime.

Biggest thing will be if it's just a "tourist" blade, [junk steel, weak fittings or rivets] or a actual working machete able to stand up to lots of work.

I have one of these. It's a pretty standard jungle tool.

Looks pretty much exactly like mine from Costa Rica but mine has a palm tree and a La Palma Logo. Use it, it's not a collectable and they do work well.
