I just got my first benchmade, and i was wondering what would be a good sharpener to keep it nice and sharp.  I don't mind spending a little money on it as long as it is worth it.

Spyderco Sharpmaker is a nice rig.

Is the blade coated or partially serrated?

If so, Sharpmaker. If not, 1000-2000 grit sandpaper and mouse pad.

I like the Benchmade Field Sharpener made by Redi-Edge, specifically the 983903F which is around $20 and small enough to carry on a key chain.  A few passes and your knife will be sharpened.
