They have very similar grinds, deep bellies and long sweeping lines that complement a natural arm or wrist swing. The next one is patterned after an old fashioned Marbles Woodcraft skinner, I'll post up pics of the process. To answer the steel question, it's just O2 tool steel. Nice carbon content, sharpens well and holds a great edge when heat treated properly. For a basic knife, O2 does a good job without getting too fancy. I'd still like to drill and pin the tang on this one though, it'd look like a genuine Appalachian "tinker" style skinner then. |
