Is Zero Tolerance made by Kershaw?

Whatis the warranty and quality?

How does the blade and edge hold up under NORMAL use. I use a knife everyday for many things, including boxes and papers, My Benchmade Osbourne has held extremely well, My Mel Pardue also, but HK knives and Griptilian have failed to hold and edge miserably.

I am looking at the ZT Military Knife 500. Tell me about it? What is the button on the frame for, how does it operate, etc??? Is it available without the DLC coating and NON serrated blade?

Yes, ZT is a Kershaw offshoot.

The warranty and quality are awesome. Basically, if you break it, they replace it. However, that is a bit of an understatement about how awesome their warranty department is. I called them last week because I wanted to see if I could by a black G-10 handle scale to replace the tan one on a used 0301 that I just bought. They told me that they were unable to sell me a new scale but if I sent the knife in, they'd replace it with a new 0300.

I haven't had any issues with edge retention.

The 0500 is supposed to be really neat. My understanding is that it is designed to be impervious to mud and sand. I think the button on the frame is the lock. There are some really good videos on YouTube that show the knife and how it works.

I will be having a full review up of the 0500 MUDD knife by summertime.  Long story short, I carried it with me to Honduras, and it performed above and beyond.  I'll give a quick overview, and you can ask as many questions as you like

You open the knife using the double thumblugs (which can also catch on your pants pocket for a "wave" opening).  And you close the knife by pulling down on the button on the frame, and then flip the knife closed.

It is impervious to sand, mud, saltwater, etc.

154CM steel heat treated by Kershaw is excellent, and is definitely on par with benchmades (154 is benchmades primary steel) according to many users.

The grind on the 0500 is meant for abuse.  It will not be a slicer.  However, it should hold an edge for as long as you like, (mine has held up great) and a trip to Kershaw with a note for sharpening, and they'll sharpen and ship it back to you for free.

Kershaw has one of the top warranties in the business that not a lot have.  Like the poster above, if you break it, they'll replace it, no questions asked.  Sometimes I feel that they're almost too nice.

The 0500 comes standard without serrations, but coating is standard.  The tugsten coating has a Rockwell hardness in the 80's––this is not a benchmade coating.  When you slice open a soda can, for instance, the aluminum will mark up the coating, but will come right off with a spunge and soap.  The toughness is ridiculous.

Although they don't mention it that much, it IS made with 7-series aluminum, which is substantially tougher than your standard 6 series (used in kershaws, benchmades, etc.).  I think it is hard anodized, as I have been unsuccessful in scratching the anodizing.

The only con, the pocket clip will hang up in material, since the g-10 scales are insanely grippy.  This is solved by trimming off some metal in the clip and drilling a new hole in the clip, but it really isn't that bad.  Wear good blue jeans, and it'll be just fine.  The clip is discreet too.

I'll post the link to the review, once I finish up my schoolwork enough to right a full one.  Check out bladeforums for even more info.

Do these fit 16inch carbines like the 6721 or 6920? Doesn't look like it, but it would be great.

The ZT bayonets should fit any rifle that a conventional bayonet will fit.

ZTs are awesome... as are any Kershaws IMHO. As for the bayonet, yes it shares dimensions of the M9. I have mounted it to my M590A1. Ill see about getting a photo of it tonight, but it may need to wait till the weekend. I now own 10 ZT blades. 0100, 0120, 0150, 0200, 0301, 0350, 0400, 0500, 0610, ZT9 bayo. I carried the 0200 for about a year. The others have really only seen the inside of the safe with slight occasional use. MY kitchen sports a nice Shun line up.

I meant a 16 inch carbine. I wish someone would come out with an extended bayo so you didn't have to use the little extender things.

I'll go ahead and add my three cents.  ZT knives are great knives (this, coming from a Busse ho), and Kershaw's customer service and warranty are top notch.  IF you break it, they'll replace it no questions asked, as others have mentioned.

Marking this thread for near-future reference.  I have been in the market for a few different knives, and you all have given me some blades I want to investigate for possible purchase.  Thank you.
