I was going through some old boxes at my Parents house not to long ago and came across an old friend. My Dad bought this Swiss Army knife for me when I was in the Scouts and I loved it.

I think it would make a great addition to my little survival kit but honestly this thing has been sitting for probably 15 years and has seen better days. I needs a real good cleaning and sharpening etc. I really know a whole of nothing about working on knives so would I be better off to try and work this thing my self or take it to a professional? At the time this was the top of the line model and I would love to be able to pass it along to my son some day in a good working condition.

Oil the dog shit out of it and work the blades back and forth a bit. Sharpening SAK's is easy. Grab a coffee mug, flip it over and sharpoen it on the unglazed ceramic ring.
