I've had one for a while since near when they came out. It's an awesome blade for the money. D2 isn't the best steel for a big chopper, and the edge needs thinned for best perfomance. Even with those two issues I'm very happy with it, It rides on the rack of my ATV for clearing trails. and has been put through a good bit of work. I did just purchase a Busse Battle Mistress that I'll compare it to this weekend. Honestly I don't expect I'll find the Busse worth that much extra money over the outcast, but we shall see! |

I have one somewhere. As stated above D2 isnt great for a chopper. I thinned the blade out and it worked better until it started chipping BADLY. Its also a bitch to resharped. I pretty much gave up on it and moved on to other knives. I didnt like the handle, or the recurved blade. Combine that with the D2 and it gets a For the same money aI would get a Wetterling hatchet and a Mora knife and have a better set-up. |
| As an update, I addressed the handle issue (my only complaint about the knife after fielding it a few times) last week. I used a utility knife to cut away as much of the rubber handle as possible. Underneath that was a plastic insert that encased the tang. The two sides of it were joined around their perimeter and also through some skeleton cut outs in the tang. I used an old flathead screwdriver as a chisel and busted that off. Then I wrapped it with a few layers of paracord. The feel is much better to me now. |
