Whats up with this type of Blade?
How does it compare to others?

I bought a Microtech that has S30V Steel back in 8/2002

I cant tell much difference between S30V  And  154cm/ATS34

While no metallurgy expert I own several knives in S30V. They tend to hold an edge well, great rust resistant properties, etc. I prefer it to most metals used for knives.

I also have others in 3V, CMP154 and D2.

I like it but to be honest I also have knives made out of AUS8, 440C, and Sandvick that do just as well for me as my S30V. I like it but I am not sure I am willing to pay what some folks want for it. To each his own though and it is a great knife steel.

I've made some knives with S30V and S60V. It is a pain to finish and is hard on grinding equipment. I think that is part of the reason for higher costs. It does hold an edge well. I perfer Sandvik steels over the S30V or S50V.
