My grandfather gave me a knife he believes he bought in the 60s. It looks similar to the Kabars, has a wooden handle. It is marked U.S., then under that Camillus. Plain leather sheath with no inscription. It's beat all to holy hell, but very sturdy.

I have found some information, but all the sights say they were made much later than the 70's and are marked Camillus NY, which this one is not. Anyone know anything about these?

You sure the handle is wood and not stacked leather? Camillus made the FUK along with KBar and Ontario.

Unless stacked leather is extremely heard and feels and looks like wood. I'm not familiar with it, so it could be.

I would say it is very likely your grandfather bought that when he did.

There is a Camillus forum on Bladeforms which would certainly get you an answer.
