Thinking of putting the spearpoint version of this fixed blade on my gear as a fighter. Anyone actually owned one, and what's your impressions?
I already have a becker brute on my pack, and use cold steel recon-1 as my folder.

Buck is going to discontinue the Strider collaborations this year, so I would wait until Buck sells them on closeout.  My local Sportsman's Wareshouse has the 890s for $129, which is close to MSRP.  Buck was selling the 888 Solution, 882 BKX, and 881T during their last factory sale for $60, $60, and $39 respectively, and had all the  SB folders discounted very heavily a couple of months ago during a internet sale on their website. Now that being said, if you want a black spearpoint blade fighter, the Camilus CQB-3 is a better feeling knife for combatives and you can find them in the $50-$75 range.

good advice.  I picked up a ontario rat-7 for general duties, and will check out the Camilus CQB-3  as well.

I also love my CQB-3, but I thought it was discontinued? Great blade if you can find one.

A few days ago I noticed an awesome deal on Knifeworks.com. They are selling the CRKT Hissatsu for $29 bucks. If you want a strictly self defense blade to go with the rest of your gear, this is a great option. These blades usually retail for around $70 bucks. Get em while they are cheap!! Here is a link,

CRKT Hissatsu Killer deal!

Here are a couple of pics of my CQB-3,
