I want a folder with:

axis lock
ergonomics of emerson commander
tip up pocket carry
good steel
non chisel grind
thumb hole or disc opening device
thin handle
easy to open with a flick of the wrist, but not assisted
non-slip grips

Sounds like you are looking for a Benchmade AFCK,

Benchmade AFCK Review

Too bad they are discontinued as they were a great knife. Try the secondary market to see if you can find one in good condition at a reasonable price. They came in D2 steel I believe. Good luck man.

Too bad they are out of production.

I rethought some of what I wanted and ended up buying an Emerson Super SOFCK.

Also considered a Spyderco Manix and Al Mar SERE 2k.

My next few knives are going to be Striders.  Have been  practically salivating over them, particularly the RC, GB, and SMF.

Correction: SOCFK

This morning I couldn't resist the urge any longer, so called up Strider and ordered a SMF.

Somebody stop me!

I will as soon as I have both of them, along with some other sharp and pointy things.

Folders opened, with CS Recon Tanto for size comparision

Folders compared in the closed position

My fav folders: Emerson Super SOCFK, Commander, CQC7B, Strider SMF

View from top

The SMF and Commander are most similar in overall size, but the Commander feels slimmer and smaller.  The SMF is built like a tank.  It also feels much wider than the Commander when in the pocket.
