Kershaw Launch 16: The button is gritty. The button sticks. The button is hard to push. The action is sluggish. Closing it one handed is a gamble. I would have never figured Kershaw would be dumb enough to not use flush screws in a deep folded pocket clip. I was reminded on the first cut why I hate serrations. If you see how much they thinned out the tang in the Launch series for the coil spring you’d be shocked. That said, it was cheap and will make a good gift for someone down the road some day. It looks really good, it just isn’t.  Attached File |

ETA: Don’t buy this knife. The blade steel is the worst steel I’ve used in decades. No way in hell this is D2, probably 440. I think I’m about done with Kershaw. Between poorly thought out and outright flamboyantly gay USA designs and gas station quality Chinese knives, I can no longer ignore my consistent bad luck with them. I hate my Launch and this caught my eye. Glad I took a chance. Not sure why this one is so slept on aside from the China thing. Really wish they made this in the US but I digress. Kershaw Broadside. Feels more like something ZT would have made 15 years ago. Attached File Having owned a Bel-Air and Iridium, this is the most well done crossbar lock I’ve gotten in a Kershaw. On a side note, it’s pretty crazy how long gun colors take to make it over to the mainstream knife market. True FDE just stated becoming common a few years ago in place of desert tan. So when I saw this in Coyote I had to have it. |

I just got this Sam Roddy knife in today. Roddy is a knife maker out of Norh West Arkansas. This has Mammoth bark handles. When I was looking at it I didn't know what that was so I had to look it up. It's the outer surface of the tusk and it gets its coloring from the minerals in the ground that it assorbs over thousands of years. Attached File Attached File |
