Are the Chris Reeve Sebenza folders worth it?  The price is like $400 for the folders.

I have a few CR folders , and a fixed blade. I think they are great, but I love knives! They are pricey, but the quality is great, and my wife has a good job too to help pay for them.

The price of a custom knife is often subjective.  Probably materials and time probably would'nt warrant $400, but when you factor collectability, name recognition,  limited availability, and the fact its one of the best folding knives available then maybe $400 is not unreasonable.  A Sebenza is worth what the customers are willing to pay, and depending on features is $350-$600.  When comparred to Strider, Harsey, Wilson, Tighe, Crawford or Emerson foldiers the CRK Sebenza is not really overpriced. If you really want a Sebenza, try looking on Bladeforums.com as they are commonly for sale there thru their exhange forum.

I have never owned one, but have handled many. I love the way the larger knives feel.

They often come up for sale on bladeforums.com, and they always hold their value. Even the users.

Of course, the down side is the possibility of losing any knife.

I have a Large Classic Sebenza and love it.... I got mine through the forums for $265. Instead of buying all the diffferent Benchmades I have bought looking for just the right knife, I wish I would have just bought the Sebenza to begin with and be done with it...
