Opinion on Tops knives, they seem to be well made but also seem overpriced.

Very well made and yes, I'd consider them overpriced. Look around and you may find a really good deal on one. I got my TOPS Black Eagle Strike Team (B.E.S.T) for a steal from an auction site. It was brand new but no box. Lemme tell ya its a monster knife and very beefy! I am quite pleased with this knife but I confess I would have had a hard time justifying paying the full retail asking price (which is something like $270!!--- I paid less).
  good luck!

OH yeah, make sure you find out what blade material the particular knife you are looking at is made of. I found that most TOPS knives are of 1095 High Carbon steel but some can be had in other steels. The one I bought is ATS-34. I liked this better as it would be more rust resistant.

My friend carries one in Iraq.  I don't know which model though, he liked it but wasn't too fond of the sheath.

Do some looking, I was able to pick up my loner for about $117.  Deals are out there to be had, google won't always find them. Good luck.

I like the Tom Brown Tracker model, any opinions on this design?

TOPS knives may seem expensive for just being 1095 carbon steel, but they have A LOT of hand grinding and hand done work on them.

So you're paying for labor, not just the materials.
