Anyone know of a stocking dealer or reseller for Randal's? Are Randall's all they are cracked up to be or just over-priced and hyped? |
| I carried, and used daily,a Model 14 back in the mid to late eighties. The knife saw hard use and never let me down, when I finally made it home I sold it and have regretted it ever since. These days I use a Cold Steel Military Classic R1,its every bit the knife my Randall was but it would be nice to be able to wrap my hand around the grip of my old Model 14. |

I own a #1, and previously owned a # 5. They are excellent knives. Both of my blades were made from tool steel, not stainless. And a tip, call Randall and ask if any of your interested styles are available, sometimes they are! I called one day, asked for a # 1, and got it a week later, and customized to my specs! Just lucky they were making runs of # 1s that week! So try Randall first, and enjoy your adventures with your Randall Made Knife! myitinaw |
| Since you are in California, try Nordic Knives. They are in Salvang, right in the middle of that tourist trap. I ordered one from them before, and have two on order since last year. They will be ready in September and November. |
Javak, I checked their web site and contacted them via email. They have NOTHING IN STOCK. They are quoting 1 1 /2 year wait (fall 2006 delivery). This is NOT what I was after in creating this thread. I am after sources of supply who have them IN STOCK. Having gotten that out of my system, I will say they have some very nice knives in stock, just no Randall Mades. |

Yep, thought so. I find that I have gone back to that Nordic Knives site several times now. They have some awesome stuff. They even have several chipped stone knives (obsidian, etc.). The stuff that catches my eye is pretty fancy stuff - maple burls, bone handles, etc. They certainly look good. I wonder how reliable the construction is, how hard the edge and how tough the steel. It would be a nice stop when I next get up to Solvang. Anyone know any of the custom knife makers on the Nordic Knives web site - good or bad? |

I have four grand sons, and three Model 14s...I need one more. I was lucky and had a buddy who was a Randall dealer, so was able to get the three at a VERY good price. The last, however, is still in limbo as my buddy is no longer a dealer. Hopefully, they will appreciate these knives one of these days! |
