I have a chance to buy a brand new, in-the-box, Microtech Chameleon for $375. Is this a good deal? I have a couple of automatic Benchmades but I haven't had a Microtech. I hear they're great knives.

Check www.bladeforums.com or www.knifeforums.com. I have owned a few Microtechs. They seem to hold their value pretty well

Also check www.microholics.org. The knife forums that are dedicated to a particular brand seem to be good for shopping. The members are always trading/selling their preferred brand of knife. It is usually difficult to find much in the way of negitatve feedback, if appropriate.

I habe owned teo Microtechs and ending up trading them for something else. The quiality of the knife is obvious. The materials, finish, lock stength were great. My complaint had to do with the pocket clips. My knives wouldnt stay attached to my pocket. The clips sucked. My knives were a socom and mini socom made about 2000. I believe the new clips on the elite models  are a bit more secure.

Now that I think of it, I cant stand the new tamper proof screws. You need to buy some wacky three headed torx driver to disassemble the knife. God forbid you actually use the thing and get some lint in it. You will have to send it back to Fl for a cleaning. Or you can spend the $18 and buy the doo dad youself.
