just found some PMC brass in my stash. Don't remember buying it. Is it any good? I am trying to sort out 20 or so to work loads up with. The rest of the brass I have is WCC and LC. I am sure most of it is MG brass.

What's the head stamp on it? I've used the "PMC 50 CAL" and "PSD" head stamped stuff and it's good brass, maybe not as good as IMI but close. There's a bunch on new stuff floating around but it's military and probably been run through an M2 so you don't know how good it's going to be. So unless you find someone wih a stash of it that's been shot through a bolt gun, be sure to do a good inspection of it.

It is the PMC 50 CAL. Looks brand new. I have had if for several years. I don't think it is MG brass.

Mic it and see how long it is, that and inspect the inside to see if it's been stretched by using a heavy gauge wire like a coat hanger. Bend the end of it at a 90 degree angle, be sure to partially sharpen the end of the wire. If it feels like it's dipping into or snagging a groove then it was more then likely shot through an M2. The other thing you can do is cut the top of the case off about 1 1/2" from the bottom, if you see a ring that dips into the brass about 3/4" from the bottom of the case it's been fired through an M2.

The brass "could" still be usable, resize it, trim it and reload it but not HOT and see how it works. If you see a ring or what looks like a crack on the outside of the brass about 3/4" from the bottom of the case toss it. That for sure is ready to split and who knows what will happen if it does when you fire it. A piece of brass that cost less then a dollar isn't worth at a minimum splitting and getting stuck in your chamber and at worst becoming a grenade next to your head.

Because I was asked, here's a link to help you guys out as far as reloading and different tools including how to make the tool to inspect for stretched brass. http://www.hevanet.com/temple/50reloading.html
