I have been looking at many of the .50 sites and came to the conclusion that for the money and options I would get the Armalite AR50. I ordered one from the best gun dealer on the planet (that's my opinion anyway). I waited and waited and waited for it. Friday he called me and said it came in but that I should wait till this Thursday to look at the Steyr HS50's he has coming in. Well know I don't know what to do. I was looking for ideas from you guys. The pro's and con's of both. He will not sell the AR50 out from under me, so that's not a concern. Price is close enough to also not be a concern. I know which way I'm leaning but would like to hear from you guys.

Thanks for your help ahead of time.

In advance, please recognize that if you have a Steyr HS-50, I don't have anything against you and I'm not saying its not a solid gun...but in my opinion...in a heads up comparison, it is beaten by the AR-50 & AR-50A1 hands down.

I would 100% without question stick with the AR-50.  The AR-50 has numerous advantages to the Steyr.

1.  AR-50 is made in USA.  Steyr is made in Austria.  Keep the American gun industry alive by buying American.
2.  AR-50 has Armalite service available.  Steyr is a foreign company...difficult to obtain service.
3.  Many accessories are available for the AR-50, bipods, monopods, pintle mount, sloped scope bases, etc.  There are no available accessories for the Steyr.
4.  An AR-50 uses a fully adjustable Remington-700-style trigger which can be adjusted easily or replaced with a Jewell.  The Steyr uses a non-adjustable proprietary trigger that is typically the number 1 complaint I've heard on FCSA.org.
5.  AR-50's are common.  Barrels are easy to obtain if  you shoot yours out.  Who knows about Steyr?
6.  AR-50's are proven accurate with many matches won using them.  Very few Steyrs ever make it to matches and while they may shoot well, i've never seen one place in the last 3 years at Raton.
7.  The AR-50 is cheaper than the Steyr.
8.  Steyr of Austria sold a bunch of HS-50's to the Iranians that have been used in Iraq to shoot at our Soldiers.

The only advantage I can think of for the Steyr is purely vanity.  They look neat and fewer people have them so they're a bit more unique.  That is absolutely the only advantage I can see to them.

I've Handled and shot both, I prefer the AR50

AR50 recoil felt Less

AR50 Felt good in my hands and on my shoulder, Cheek weld was good

HS50 Wasn't uncomfortable, it just felt wrong to me.

I'm a Big Guy 6'4" 275lb. and the AR50 just felt better overall.

My Opinion,
