I am new to the fifty and I am looking at scopes.  Niteforce and Mark 4 are out of range at this moment.  I am hearing good about to supersniper but was wondering if anybody had any experience with the 6.5 x 20 x 42 leupold VX III.  Fifty aproved 30 mm tube but no target turrets.  Going on a fifty that I do not own yet but looking to have scope ready when I get it.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.  I like a clear scope and have heard that the super snipers were not that clear.  Also were is the supersniper made?
Thank You
Justin

I have a friend that uses that same VX-III and has shot 5 or 6 matches as well as load development and not had any problems with it.  He's shooting it on a 40 lb +/- ALS upper conversion.  Has won a few matches with it too in hunter class.  Leupold's warranty is good so if you shell it out, you'll get a new one or get that one repaired.  I'd go for it and wouldn't look back.

I had a 20x Supersniper and they are a serviceable $300 Scope but not in the class of Leupolds.  Using a 5.5-22x56mm NXS now.

Take care and good luck,

I have a 10X super sniper on a 7mm rem mag hunting rifle.  I think the clarity compares well with scopes that are several hundred more, but you give up variable power for that savings.  I'd say it is a pretty good value for a Bohica price range rifle (1500-2000) and a bunch of people in the Bohica forums are using them (16x fixed mostly).

SWFA is the exclusive distributor AFAIK and they have information describing how it is made to their specs and how they cut out the middle men to further reduce the price.  Their store / warehouse is just south of Dallas and I drove down there to check it out before I bought.  The people there are knowledgeable and their prices are pretty good.  It doesn't mention it on the site, but I think I recall that these are made by Tasco to the SWFA provided specs.

After handling the Unertl scopes on the Marine M82A1A's years ago, I really came to like them. Now that US Optics offers them, I may get one. The $2500 price tag is a bit to chew on though.
I really like the scope though.
