Hi, I am currently using a Leopold MK4 8.5 - 25 scope and shooting against guys using 42x Nightforce scopes. Currently we are only shooting at 600 yards but I am thinking about shooting in one of the 1000 yard matches in a few months. It would be nice to see my target better. I have heard from a few people that someone makes a 2x magnifier for rifle scopes. Is that true? and if so do any of you know who makes them?

Thanks.

Premier Reticles used to boost Leupolds but they're not taking any new order these days due to the health of the principle.  Your 8.5-25x Mk 4 will be more than enough magnification for a 1000 yard FCSA match.  I use a 5.5-22x56mm NF NXS and its plenty of power.  Those targets are 6 ft x 6 ft.  There is  a 3"x3" white square in the middle of the black (center of the X-ring) that I can divide into quarters with my 22x NF NXS at 1000 yds.  25x is plenty of power.  A 42x NF is overkill in most cases, even at 1000 yds and  you often can't use that much power because of mirage, even in the morning.

So my suggestion would be to spend your money on components and trigger time.  That Mk 4 is plenty of scope for 1000 yd FCSA.

By the way, I'm adding this after my initial reply.  You may be talking about one of the Aimpoint or EOTech magnifier.  I wouldn't think those would work well with a 50 for two reasons, one they were designed to work with an unlimited eye relief scope and your MK 4, while having generous eye relief, is certainly not unlimited and second, while the magnifiers have pretty good eye relief, I wouldn't think they have enough for a 50 since you need a good 4 inches plus in my opinion.  Not sure if you were talking about this but if you were, I thought I would comment.

Thanks for the reply. I will try shooting the match with just my 25 power. I dont think the aimpoints would work either.
