Reviews?

I had an AR-50, and sadly, I traded it off. I now have a trade offer for a State Arms Compact with the aluminum stock.

How are they?

Any experiences?

Edited to accurately name rifle.

hello. i got to shoot one at a machinegun shoot.  they hardly kick at all, but damn! feels like someone slapped you in the nose every time you shot it!. maybe the newer ones have a different muzzle brake? this one had a huge fish gill brake. worked great, but really let the gasses hit you. other wise, a really well built gun.  kirk

I shoot in FCSA 1000-yd matches and I have found the State Arms Shorty I own to be every bit as accurate as the other production guns I compete with.  Best group so far at 1000-yds just under 7 inches.  They are solid guns, probably the strongest action out there, and the guy that owns the company is awesome so far as service.  Mine came with one hell of a nice trigger on it, a bipod, a monopod, the aluminum stock, and a 20 MOA rail all for $2K.

Recoil is super mild, shoulder never gets sore, even after 120 rounds in 2 days of a match.

Never heard them called a compact though.  Take a look at www.statearms.com and see if the one you are offered in trade is a Shorty.

edit:  Everything I've read about them says they are great rifles.

I'll be getting a State Arms Rebel soon.

Here's my State Arms Shorty with my wife shooting it.  Before I picked up the NF NXS. Still has a Supersniper on it. Picture on the State Arms site doesn't do it justice.

I bought the action and barrel and make a stock and really like it. The recoil is much less than my other  .50 Watson upper.
