This might seem like an odd question, but I'm curious, how are you guys storing these chunks.

If you set them up (like in a rack in your safe) you are leaving them with 20+ lbs lying on the recoil pad.  Isn't this hard one them?  On the other side, having that much weight lying on the muzzle brake (making an assumtion your rifle has a muzzle brake) doesn't seem like a great idea either.

Anyone else addressed this issue?   Or just stack 'em next to the others?

I keep them in a lockable case apart from other items.

I have the AR-50.  I simply remove the buttstock and lay it on an upper shelf in the safe, and stand the rest of the gun up in the safe like I would any other gun (although my safe is tall enough for the entire gun, I prefer to still have some shelves going up).  No problem.  Can't see a problem with standing one on the muzzle brake, either, if that fits your system better.  They are not delicate such that a static 25 pound force is going to hurt anything, at least not when applied to the butt or the muzzle brake.

Does this help any?

I stand both my M82A1 and M95 on the muzzle brake. The recoil pads will deform if left resting on the pads.

mine stands on its brake.

Fair enough.  Sounds like the muzzle brake is the answer.

I stand all of my rifles on the muzzle if they have a recoil pad.  Although I'm always sure they have a gun-sack around them to protect the crown.

Thanks for the info,

There was a guy on the FCSA members website selling them for around 250 bucks shipped, which is a STEAL for how nice they are, and how tough they are built.

Mine sets on its bipod on display on a table in the basement. Yeah, I know but it wouldn't fit in the safes and I just sat it there to get it out of the way for a bit but it looked so good I am leaving it there. Of course bolt and ammo are locked up.

I stand my M99 vertically in my safe on the recoil pad.  I roll up a sock that goes in the crook of the recoil pad to distribute the weight.  It's been like this for 6 months and hasn't deformed the recoil pad.  Keeping constant stress from the weight of the rifle on a chambered muzzle brake and barrel threads doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

In a lockable case......One day I'll get a Pellican for it.

How on Earth will you use it for self defense? I was let down my 50 BMG upper didn't have a bayonet mount; how will I ever do room clearing drills with it?

Cobb BA50 broken down in half.  Lower receiver (~5 pounds) is easy to deal with.  Upper receiver is in the safe, barrel-up, resting on the flat portion of the receiver.
