This might seem like an odd question, but I'm curious, how are you guys storing these chunks. If you set them up (like in a rack in your safe) you are leaving them with 20+ lbs lying on the recoil pad. Isn't this hard one them? On the other side, having that much weight lying on the muzzle brake (making an assumtion your rifle has a muzzle brake) doesn't seem like a great idea either. Anyone else addressed this issue? Or just stack 'em next to the others? Gundraw |

I have the AR-50. I simply remove the buttstock and lay it on an upper shelf in the safe, and stand the rest of the gun up in the safe like I would any other gun (although my safe is tall enough for the entire gun, I prefer to still have some shelves going up). No problem. Can't see a problem with standing one on the muzzle brake, either, if that fits your system better. They are not delicate such that a static 25 pound force is going to hurt anything, at least not when applied to the butt or the muzzle brake. Does this help any? |
| I stand my M99 vertically in my safe on the recoil pad. I roll up a sock that goes in the crook of the recoil pad to distribute the weight. It's been like this for 6 months and hasn't deformed the recoil pad. Keeping constant stress from the weight of the rifle on a chambered muzzle brake and barrel threads doesn't sound like a good idea to me. |
