I know a guy who some how got a FN M3 flash hider and wants to put it on his Barrett M82. What would happen when if he changed it over? Would the recoil be unbareable with out the break that it has on now?

The M82A1 will function fine with the brake made for it. Putting something else on is inviting malfunctions.
The 82A1 is made around the brake on it, it needss the recoil generated by the brake to function correctly.

So it will effect its reliablility, I will pass that info on to him before he messes up a very expensive weapon.
