I had a case head separation today and am in need of a tool to get it out.  Anyone know where I can get one? Or how to get it out.  I have a few ideas, but want to see if there might be a better method first.

Cleaning rod and a Tight fitting patch or brush pushed in through the muzzle.

That wont work in this instance.  Complete case head separation.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

Tell me why it won't work, what I described was for removing a Cartridge case less the head.  There should be little if any pressure on the chamber walls. the objective of the Tight Patch or brush is to knock the casing loose when it comes in contact with the case mouth.

If you wanted to get a stuck case out I would of suggested dropping a .308 cartidge down the bore and bounce it a bit to act like a slide hammer.

short of that you'll need a dedicated removal tool. whcih will run you around $20-$30

Try what I suggested befor you say it won't work

www.m2hb.net or go to the local army surplus store and see if the have a 50 broken shell extractor.  If you have a gun with a good extractor they work great.  I paid five bucks for mine.

It wont work because it is very stuck, and because I tried it and know it wont work.  Like I said, thanks for the suggestion.  No need to get pissy about it.

K, wasn't getting pissy about it, even though typing what I meant nicely did sound a little pissy.

Hmm, extremely stuck, hmm.................... Dang if I had a broken shell remover I'd send it to ya to borrow, unfortanely only thing I got is for 308/30-06.

sorry Ozzy,
Short of just making one out of some thin sheet metal, which I'd probably do just for S&G's I can't think of a way to get it out without a broken shell extractor.

I ordered one from Sarco Inc today.  So I will be good to go in short order.  Thanks.
