I have seen alot of trigger talk lately.. Does anyone make a better trigger for the AR50?? Thanks |

I have not taken mine apart to see it, but rumor has it that it "may" be very similar to a Remington 700 trigger which would be a plus to us. A bump for you and maybe 50_Shooter will chime in with the scoop. I could be wrong, have been before...will be again. Danny |

Hey Dan, Yeah, you can swap out the AR-50 trigger for a trigger that will fit into a Rem 700. I swapped mine out for a standard Shilen and have it set at 2 pounds. One of the guys has a Jewell that's set at 2 oz. and hasn't had any problems. If you can't do it any gunsmith can swap it out easy enough for you. |

I can take a stab at that partially. Timney triggers are relatively inexpensive and adjustable. Jewell triggers are excellent and kind of pricey (for me). There are several other makers too. The Remington factory trigger is adjustable to a degree, instructions are floating around on various sites on the net as well as here possibly. I've had good luck with adjusting them, if that is the exact trigger utilized in the AR-50. Adjustment requires a knowledge of sear engagement, overtravel and spring tension. Finding out what screw does what is required. If attempted, make sure it's not so light that the firing pin will fall when either the bolt is closed or, a hit to the side of the rifle is made, Safety off. I imagine the firing pin could also fall if sear engagement and spring tension is too light with bolt closed when safety is disengaged. Sniper Country has some discussion on Rem. triggers. Be safe. Tried a Shilen when I first got mine and found that on occassion the act of closing the bolt would result in the firing pin slipping off the sear = potential discharge without fully closed bolt = new face if youre lucky. I talked to Mark Westrom at armalite and he said they had not found lighter trigger that could reliably hold the firing pin to the rear - it has a stronger spring then a rem 700 to insure reliable ignition with military primers that are harder. This is what he told me. I did find that replacing the A2 grip with a seirra precision grip improved/lightened my preception of the trigger weight. Hope that helps. |
What mods did you have to do to get the Sierra Precision grip on the AR50? Thanks |
