I have just ordered a ALS 50 upper and it will be several months before it arrives. I need to get a press before it arrives and go ahead and have some ammo made up. What about the new Lee Cast Classic 50BMG loader and dies ($149) I have read some very good reviews about it! So what do you think. What are some of the other handy dandy tool I will need just for the 50.

a few other usefull items for reloading the .50s!

Scope and Rings
Hornady 50bmg powder measure
loading block(s) 10ga shotgun case trays work well.
digital scale
Giraud power case trimmer
RCBS chamfering tool (good for removing milsurp primer crimps/stakes)
small cement mixer for cleaning/polishing brass
collet bullet puller (CH4D)
upgrade your hearing protection!
bipod or rests?
extra long cleaning rod and .50 sized brushes, jags..etc.
(make yourself a PVC pipe storage tube while your at it too!)
appropriate bore guide

Digital camera:  take lots of pictures to share!

most prevelant are the CCI primers, but if you can find 'em the IMI and RWS are supposed to be better for target ammo.  LC has been reported as beginning to manufacture them for domestic sale, but then the war began, and I've not heard anything since...

do you see any problems with the Lee 50bmg press and dies? & what are some good plinking loads to start with?
