This forum is lacking in good picks of big guns. I would like to see what all your 50 bmg rifles look like. Perhaps they will inspire me to start working harder to get my own someday to compliment my meager (but growing) collection of firearms. Thanks!

E-bay! |
DPMS flat top riser gets the scope up and really helps if you have a 56mm end. Brownells part number 231-015-018 www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=5593 The riser and a set of Badger MAX-50 high (1.125") mounts (1005-306-13) Hope this helps... Edited to update proper info and link. |
AZ-K9, The scope is a Leupold MK4 16x40. The STANDARD rings, which were shipped by accident, will not fit with that scope at all. They are just too low. The HIGH rings allow the scope to fit with about 1/4" clearance between the front bell of the scope and the rail, but I could not get a good cheek-weld to let me see through the scope. I had to turn my head completely sideways to see through it. I'm going with the SUPER HIGHs now. I ordered the scope and rings from Premier Reticles and they have been great with my fitting problems. Those guys have pretty much "fronted" me 2 sets of Badger rings to let me find the right ones. HTH. CHRIS |

UPDATE The Badger Super-High rings arrived the other day. They are gonna be the ones. I lapped them and mounted my 16x Leupold today. I don't have a good place to zero in, so I just blasted a couple of rounds down to the river bank. Holy cow!!! CHRIS |
If only I'd waited for you to test fit everything for me, I wouldnt had to go thru all the trouble. ![]() I tried to go with the High Max-50's and just hand fitted the scope. I could tell the scope was too low for a good weld, so I sent them back to Badger. They offered to exchange them, instead of trying to go thru Premier Reticles, where I bought the rings. Why did you decide to lap them? I mention lapping the the Badger guy and he said they done recommend it, something about their rings being from the same piece of bar stock. Just wondering if I should lap em too? Note: Sincere apologies go to az-ar, for hi-jacking his thread...I really do plan on submitting a pic, as soon as my rings get here! |
Pappy1: would you be so kind and give the specs on your very nice toy? I maybe in the market for one and this could be the way to go. BR. |
